Spring has sprung, and so have these frogs, hopping their way into our hearts here at Darcy Miller Designs. I chose these cute little green guys as the last-minute theme for a dinner party I hosted recently to celebrate the start of Spring. But they’re also great for several other occasions, like:
–A Bridal Shower (She Kissed a Prince)
–A Baby Shower (Hey, Little Tadpole!)
–A Birthday Party (to celebrate your own Frog Prince)
–Passover (if only all plagues were this adorable!)
–Leap Year (or any bold move, like a new job, that requires Taking a Leap)
Whatever the occasion, frog details can set a variety of moods from cartoon-cute to more elegant designs reminiscent of botanical illustrations.
For a green-and-white dinner party that felt like it was set in an enchanted forest, set the table with gummy frogs, chocolate frogs, peppermint frogs, on-palette petit fours and matcha-covered almonds.
The green and white palette carried through from sweets to snacks to flowers, all set against crisp white linens, which always feel fresh for spring. For another amphibian accent, my drawing of a frog hopped up onto a custom-wrapped chocolate, calligraphed with each friend’s name to double as a placecard. Green and white ranunculus, white tulips, scented geranium leaves, fritallaria, maidenhair fern and pale green hellebores echoed the colors on the custom-wrapped chocolate bar, which doubled as a placecard (and a lily pad for this guy).

For a kids’ party, or any event where a frog theme is invited, these frog-face macarons from Macarune add smiles to dessert—and to the faces of anyone who sees them.
In these cookies from Sweet Dani B, the frog wears his heart, not quite on his sleeve, but right where it belongs.
Duane Street Patisserie’s frog cookies are ready to hop to it!
If your frog party is celebrating leap year, pass our cards asking friends, “If you had an extra day in the year, how would you spend it?” It’s also a fun game for new year’s eve at any dinner party or gathering. Ask your friends to jot down their answers without adding their names, then have someone read each one out loud and see who can guess which reply belongs to which person. At the end of the night, everyone can bring their card home as a souvenir and motivation to make the most of every day. To download the card template, click here.
