You don’t need to be by the seashore to throw a party with an beachy vibe. This was made using a Cricut crafting machine to cut paper into sea-inspired shapes that bring the shore indoors, but these ideas would be just as sea-worthy around the pool or on the waterfront.
Under the Sea-ling
Under the Sea-ling What You’ll Need:
- Seaside Soiree Template (angelfish, clownfish, seahorse, scallop shell)
- Cricut Machine
- Cardstock paper
- Fringe Garland or Curtain (iridescent shown here)
- Tacks or equivalent removable mounting tape
- Scissors
- Monofilament
Under the Sea-ling How To:
Step 1 Download Darcy Miller Designs Seaside Soiree template
Step 2 Upload Angelfish, Clownfish, Seahorse, and Scallop Shell templates to Cricut DesignSpace, and follow their directions to cut the seaside shapes.
Step 3 Using tacks or mounting tape, secure the garland from the ceiling so that the fringe hangs down. (Attach it to the ceiling every three feet or so, spanning the ceiling from wall to wall.)
Step 4 Repeat until your ceiling is as full as you’d like—that could mean hanging two rows or covering the whole thing.
Step 5 Cut along the bottom of the fringe in wave shapes. (HINT: It’s tricky to snip upwards; change the direction of your scissors so you’re always cutting down.)
Step 6 Cut monofilament into varying lengths. Tie one end through a hole at the top of each of the undersea shapes.
Step 7 Secure the other end of the monofilament to the ceiling using tape or tacks, so that sea shapes hang in between the fringe “waves.”
